I have had many massages, but this was by far the best! I spoke at length with Fi before the appointment, explaining how I am struggling with migraines during pregnancy. During the massage, I could tell that Fi really took on board my problem and worked hard around the tension areas. It really felt that she knew exactly how to target the problem areas of a migraine-head! I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep a few times! And I left feeling so much better. Fi made sure I was comfortable and offered extra towels for support under my shoulders which I hadn’t had before. She really couldn’t have done any more. The room was lovely and warm and the towels that had been warming on the radiator were heavenly and were even swapped half way through for an extra treat! Can not recommend enough for a pregnancy massage / massage to help with migraines and tension!

I've suffered with sciatica and a stiff achy back and shoulders for many years which was considerably worse during and after my pregnancy. I booked in for a postnatal massage with Fi Hennessy who took time asking me about problematic and sensitive areas, welcomed me to the Sheffield Wellness Centre (amazing place!) and made sure I was comfortable and well looked after.Fi is a remarkable lady who exudes warmth and definitely knows her way around a postnatal body. The relief was incredible, I felt relaxed and peaceful and thoroughly enjoyed being pampered. I had a 1hr session and booked my second appointment before leaving - these sessions have now become part of my self care routine. When you experience an illness or condition which affects your body, many systems are affected along the way. Massage decreases the stress hormone known as cortisol. At the same time it increases serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is essential for the production of a hormone responsible for control of the sleep/wake cycle, melatonin.

Anxiety and other challenges can cause us to hold tension in our body because we are worried, on high alert, unable to rest and relax properly. This can in turn cause issues with digestion and sleep.

Massage works to allow this state of anxiety and high alert to calm and switch off, allowing the restorative ‘rest and digest’ phase to switch on. This helps digestion work better, easing symptoms of IBS for example, as well as improving sleep and helping your body heal and repair.
